Naked Man Project

Naked Man Project

The Naked Man Project began in the moment I discovered that my gaze was editing out seeing men's genitals.  During a chance moment, while drawing a statue of Apollo, I looked down and saw that I had left a space where Apollo's genitals should have been. This began an awakening to the ways that hidden shame had been playing out throughout my art career, and a desire, to look at all that I had been avoiding.  Deciding to draw 100 naked men in a year, and talking openly about this have led me on a deeply personal and transformative journey.  The Naked Man Oracle was born out of these drawings, and this desire - to dissolve shame around our sexuality, and our bodies, in order to live the fullest expression of ourselves.

What my collectors are saying..

"Michelle, your paintings make me seriously happy! and add a rich dimension to my life." SL London

"What I love about Fierce Transition is that it throbs with life, exploding with colour and form. After the shock of first seeing it, gradually it reveals more: more depth, more relationships, more colours. You feel the courage in the juxtaposition of tones and shades.

For me Fierce Transition is resonant of being at the edge of a tropical forest in all its exuberance, apparent chaos, and variety of living things.

Whenever I see [Fierce Transition] I feel more alive". William Eccles, London
